Who We Are
BYO Bottle SG stands for Bring Your Own Bottle Singapore – a ground-up initiative powered by volunteers with a heart for the environment.
The movement began in 2018, when a (very clueless) student environmentalist decided to take a leap of faith and email F&B businesses to encourage BYO practices. (Only 3 said yes at that time.) Since then, BYO Bottle SG has collaborated with over 25 brands & organisations, and reached out to close to 10,000 people.
Why?
Plastic is one of the biggest culprits of pollution. 930,000 tonnes of plastic was created in 2019 in Singapore alone – and only 4% of it was recycled. Singaporeans also use an estimated 467 million PET bottles each year. This does not include other items like bubble tea or coffee cups.
The convenience of a single-use beverage holder typically lasts 15 minutes, but its lifespan will outlast each one of our lifetimes on earth. We owe it to ourselves and to our future generations to manage our waste sustainably.
The best way to deal with our waste problem is to stop creating it, and BYO Bottle Singapore is here to help make that happen.
What We Do
